The Early days
It wasn't available in the UK so I had to import it with a special disk so I could play American games.
It's crazy how far it has come. There is so much to do now (although it never feels like it is enough. Give us even more Nintendo!) compared to the original game, but even then there are parts from the early days I miss.
I definitely miss the Hourly music. There were a lot more tracks in the original games, and I think this continued as a trend onto the DS versions too.
I feel like the villagers had more vibrant personalities.. although it just could have been that some of them were assholes. I remember the Grumpy and Snooty villagers, were a lot more abrasive.
The only thing I can really remember about back then is I had Bella on my Island. The little Goth Mouse.
I've played every game avaliable to me since then, and have even dragged my Elderly Mother along with me.
She started playing it on the Wii, and also the 3DS. She has now also got well over 3000 hours in the Switch version.
Covid 19 and the Switch
Well, it didn't take long for both me and my Husband to get FOMO, and we both ended up getting it digitally a few hours later. Just as well really, as Animal Crossing CARRIED us through lockdown. I'm not sure what I would have done without it.
Me and my parents are all considered vulnerable people, so the fear of Covid tanked my mental health. I think for the first month I thought we were all doomed. Thankfully, my family made it through the other side.
So because of my health issues, I'm pretty used to being a trapped at home. It did get lonely however. I'm glad a lot of my friends are gamers and I was able to meet up and play digitually with them.
I also got to experience what it was like playing a game a long side my Husband. While we are both gamers, we are both very different types. So our tastes rarely align.
