Retro Emulation!
So I accidentally fell down a rabbit hole today. I was just hanging out on Reddit when I stumbled across one of the many Retro emulation consoles. Now I’ve seen a lot of different consoles in the last few years, but they’ve all mainly looked like Gameboys. I’ve always love the idea of playing all my games on a little console, but my Husband has an Anbernic RG353V and it makes my hands cramp. So I’ve kinda passed them by.But today, I saw the Retroid Pocket G2 and it looks like a GBA and a PSP had a baby. It’s so beautiful! Well I ended up ordering one for me and my Husband for Valentine’s day. It’s a touch smaller than a Switch Lite but the screen is a similar size. I figured it would be great for my hands as it won’t be too heavy, and it’s a big upgrade from Richard’s Anbernic one, which cannot play PS2 games.
While I have so many games already to play on my Nintendo Switch and Steamdeck, I am a sucker for a bit of tech and genuinely can’t wait to play something much lighter on my joints that has a wider library. Also I haven’t really been all that impressed with Nintendo’s attempts at adding older games into their emulation service.
ometimes you can’t beat the older games for just getting into a game. A lot of the newer ones always want you to go through quite arduous tutorials first.
I think one of the games I am most looking forward to seeing again is Silent Hill: Shattered Memories on the Wii. I just hope I can play it without becoming motion sick. I’m also a big fan of Super Smash Bros Melee on the Gamecube. The newer additions to the series never quite scratched the same itch for me. I wonder if that’s Nostalgia?
Anyway.. It should be here by the 18th!
